Vaccinations--Pros and Cons

Safe and Effective and should they be government mandated?

The number of available vaccines are increasing and so are the questions of parents and concerned individuals who want to be enlightened about the pros and cons.

On another forum, KFC noted that some parents in Belgium are being jailed for refusing to have their children vaccinated against polio. According to a Lifesite news report, 2 sets of parents have been sentenced to five months in prison as well as a hefty fine for their crime. It’s a crime because the polio vaccine is legally mandated in Belgium and France. The article didn’t reveal why the parents have refused to vaccinate their children. However, vaccination has long been a subject of health and ethical concern, especially since the discovery that numerous vaccines, including several versions of the polio vaccine, are made using tissue from aborted fetuses. It’s unclear whether or not Belgium's polio vaccine has been tainted with fetal tissue.

While no vaccine is 100% safe, medical experts and health officials have long insisted the risk of diseases far outweigh the risks associated with vaccines. And that’s where the rub lies. It’s a small percentage, but what if it happens to you? Various anti-vaccination groups argue that long-term health concerns for children who have received vaccinations have not been adequately addressed, with some claiming that vaccination shots can lead to medical problems such as cancer, autism and even SIDS, "sudden infant death syndrome".

In 1986, due to pressure from parents who children had suffered devastating problems after being vaccinated, the government created the National Vaccine Compensation Program and since then has paid out more than 1.2 billion dollars in settlements to compensate families or individuals in which vaccines killed, caused brain-damage or otherwise seriously hurt children.

Right now, we have pretty much employed a "one size fits all" vaccination policy and as specified on the Universal Childhood Immunization Schedule our children as early as only a few days old are required to get certain vaccines. Besides that, there is a concern about the practice of giving a child as many as 6 separate shots or one super shot containing as many as 9 vaccines (some containing mercury) in one visit. It seems that 75% of the settlements cited above concerned the DPT vaccine given to babies at about 2 months old. Turns out they are linking many multiple learning disabilities as a result of a negative reaction to DPT.

In an effort to make this world a better place, and with a billion dollar budget, the drug industry and the medical community are racing forward developing all kinds of vaccines. Case in point is the new HPV vaccine which is supposed to protect against certain strains of human papillomavirus (STD) which lead to cervical cancer. Problem is only a fraction of that budget goes to fund independent studies of side effects and that finally has come to the attention to some in Congress.

Who decides what drugs are forced on children? One parent group based in Ohio supports allowing parents to opt their children out of vaccines and as a result, a dozen or so states have granted a limited medical exemption, a religious exemption, and a philosophical (conscientiously held belief) exemption. Unfortunately, great pressure is put on parents who choose to exempt their children. That happened to me in the case of the small pox vaccine a couple of years ago. The school insisted....and threatened to oust my child...the pressure was on.....and, as for me, I was aware of the medical, religious and philosophical exemptions.

i couldn't resist dropping by to discover whether manufacturers of measles vaccine were part of the conspiracy.

then i found this which demands a caption:

Measles outbreaks: Blame Merck - not the parents!

February 2, 2015 (COGforLife.org) -- News outlets are firing out reports about the recent measles outbreak at Disneyland, blaming it on parents who are not vaccinating. But Children of God for Life says put the blame where it belongs: on Merck - the manufacturer of the only licensed MMR vaccine in the US.

Debi Vinnedge, Executive Director at Children of God for Life is using the CDC's own data to back up that claim.

"Merck officially stopped providing the morally produced separate doses of measles and mumps vaccines in 2009," she noted. "The graph below shows the impact of that rash decision."

In 2008 Children of God for Life began a special campaign to Merck when they suddenly stopped making the separate doses. After massive public outcry, Merck promised to begin providing them again the following year. However, in October 2009, they reneged on that promise.

At the time, Merck spokeswoman Amy Rose said MMRII accounts for 98 percent of the company’s volume sales for measles, mumps and rubella vaccines, compared to just 2 percent from monovalent vaccines.

According to Merck's own financial data, that accounted for approximately $10 million in revenues the previous year, apparently not enough for them.

So when Sound Choice Pharmaceutical Institute stepped forward and asked Merck to allow their organization to provide the separate doses, Merck refused.

"In discussing within Merck we have concluded that we would have no desire to out license our monovalent technology," noted Jim Self of Merck's Vaccine and Infectious Disease Business Development division.

That left families who cannot use the aborted fetal MMR in good conscience, unprotected. But not only is there a moral concern, there are also people who cannot use the MMR for health reasons. One such parent who contacted Children of God for Life stated that her child had a contraindication to the measles component and was desperately seeking mumps vaccine in order to give at least some protection to her child.

The only other option parents have is the morally produced Measles-Rubella and Mumps vaccines produced by the Kitasato Institute in Japan. However, after lengthy negotiations the FDA would not allow personal import either, leaving concerned parents with the option of either traveling to Japan or going without. Surprisingly, some have made that trip.

"Our vaccine adventure could not have been more pleasant, both on account of the proverbial courtesy of the Japanese and the delightful assistance we received," noted Dr Maurizio Ragazzi. "The process for vaccination against Measles, Mumps, Rubella at the Kitasato Hospital in Tokyo is efficient and delightful."

"Unfortunately, the vast majority of parents cannot afford to travel overseas to get vaccinated," noted Vinnedge. "As the sole provider of MMR in the US, Merck has a moral and social responsibility to ensure public health and safety by making those separate doses available again."

Can you handle the truth about vaccines?

By Cliff Kincaid

NBC accuses Republicans of accepting bad "science" on vaccines, while Fox News fires back, accusing liberals of spreading bad "science" on vaccines. Each side is trying to score partisan political points. The message from both sides is that vaccines are completely safe. But that message is absolutely and demonstrably false.

As I noted in a recent column, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program exists to compensate victims of vaccines. The latest Statistics Report shows nearly 4,000 claims have been awarded financial damages.

Why do both sides of this "debate" pretend that vaccine-related injuries do not occur? Why not just report the facts? It doesn't take a lot of work to dig them out.

Barbara Loe Fisher of the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) tells me that she has given more than 100 interviews in the last two weeks on the subject of the measles outbreak, but that the media simply will NOT report on the existence of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and the implications for the subject of vaccine safety.

"Vaccines are the only pharmaceutical products that government mandates and completely indemnifies," she notes. She is referring to federal legislation that takes legal responsibility for their actions away from the companies making the vaccines.

"I've been talking about it in every interview I do and I have been bringing it up. But whenever I talk about liability protection for the companies – that this is the only pharmaceutical product that is mandated by government and indemnified by government – they [the media] don't want to talk about it," she said.

Observers believe the glaring omission reflects the power of pharmaceutical companies or their advertising agencies in the major media. It is in the interest of these companies to make pariahs out of those favoring vaccine choice by playing down – or even suppressing – questions about vaccine safety.

Simply put, the evidence and history show that the vaccine makers have been given total liability protection for injuries and deaths caused by government-mandated vaccines. Vaccine safety is not "settled science," as we have been hearing repeatedly in the media. To the contrary, for purposes of the law, vaccines are considered sometimes unsafe, even deadly.

The "Vaccine injury table" associated with the legislation includes a list of the injuries, disabilities, illnesses, conditions, and deaths resulting from the administration of such vaccines.

But why is it so difficult for the media to report on the existence of these health problems?

The vaccines that are covered include:

  • diptheria and tetanus vaccines
  • pertussis vaccines
  • measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines
  • polio vaccines
  • hepatitis A vaccines
  • hepatitis B vaccines
  • Haemophilus influenza type b polysaccharide conjugate vaccines
  • varicella vaccines
  • rotavirus vaccines
  • pneumococcal conjugate vaccines
  • seasonal influenza vaccines
  • human papillomavirus vaccines
  • meningococcal vaccines

As I reported in my column, the one exception to this drumbeat of misleading and inaccurate coverage about "vaccine safety" is on the local level, where correspondent Michael Chen of ABC 10 News in San Diego, California, noted a case of a boy who suffered serious injuries, including fever, seizures, nervous tics and autism, as a result of two vaccines. The mother, almost in tears as she described what happened to her son, was paid $55,000 in damages through the federal program. But the damage award didn't cover the autism diagnosis. She said she wished she had more thoroughly researched the safety of vaccines.

The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program grew out of the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act. Fisher explains what happened: "The companies threatened Congress that they were going to leave the people without any childhood vaccines if they did not get liability protection. The companies wanted this liability protection and it was mainly for losses at that time for DPT and oral polio vaccine. MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine at that point was a relatively new combination vaccine."

The DPT vaccine had been associated with brain inflammation and brain damage, while polio paralysis can be caused by the vaccine.

Fisher explains what the federal protection means for the companies: "Nobody who makes or profits from the sale of the vaccine, nobody who regulates the vaccine, who promotes the vaccine, who votes to mandate the vaccine – nobody is accountable or liable in a civil court of law in front of a jury of our peers when we get hurt because we've been told we have to take it, or when the vaccine fails to work."

The compensation program, with total liability protection for injuries and deaths caused by government-mandated vaccines, was upheld by the Supreme Court in a 2011 case in which vaccines were acknowledged to be "unavoidably unsafe."

My column actually underestimated the total financial damages paid through the program. The figure is actually $2.8 billion to the victims or the families of victims themselves.

Liberal and conservative media are trying to make political points over who's right and wrong about vaccine safety. But Fisher says people who support her group and vaccine choice come from across the political spectrum and include Democrats, Republicans, libertarians, and independents. In the media, however, each side is trying to smear the other side, as if there is a partisan divide.

The coverage has led to cases of strange bedfellows, such as the George Soros-funded blog Think Progress running a story praising Megyn Kelly of Fox News under the headline "Megyn Kelly Speaks Up For Mandatory Vaccination On Fox: 'Some Things Do Require Big Brother.'"

Indeed, Kelly defended mandatory vaccines, saying, "...some things do require some involvement of Big Brother."

What she and many others in the media have consistently ignored is the role of Big Brother in shielding the companies making the vaccines from the side effects of their products.

As I asked in my column: If there are no problems associated with vaccines, then why did Congress pass the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which created a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program?

The media on the left and right have no answer to this question. So they pretend there is no debate or dispute over the safety of vaccines. They simply point fingers about one side or the other being guilty of ignoring what they pretend is settled science.

The only thing "settled" about the science is that while vaccines work for a large majority of people, they can also cause serious health problems, even death, for some.

The commentators who ignore the truth are either lying or so utterly ignorant that they should not be in a position of offering "news" on a national basis. Whatever the case, the public is being denied the facts about decisions affecting the lives of their children. Fortunately, the public can go to sites like www.aim.org and the National Vaccine Information Center for information that is being denied to them.

A troubling aspect of the current debate is how people in the media act like experts on subjects that they know so little about. They seem to think that by huffing and puffing and sounding authoritative, they will be taken seriously. They have large staffs which seem incapable of making phone calls or doing elementary research.

If news organizations on the left and right can't even dig out the facts in life-and-death matters involving children, then what can they be trusted to report accurately on?

Media bias rears ugly head in vaccine controversy

By Cliff Kincaid

The media think they have discovered another issue to beat Republicans over the heads with – vaccines. But the media have no credibility on this, or any other major health issue. They do have, and often demonstrate, a partisan political bias on such controversial matters.

"Vaccination debate flares in GOP presidential race, alarming medical experts," states The Washington Post in horror.

It's yet another attempt to portray Republicans as "anti-science." This follows the "climate change denier" mantra used against conservatives and Republicans for supporting pro-growth economic policies.

In the measles case, NBC news is attacking Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky for "giving credence" to an idea – "disputed by the majority of the scientific community" – that "vaccination can lead to mental disabilities."

That's interesting. As we reported back in 2006, NBC was aggressively covering the mercury-autism link involving vaccines. That was because Bob Wright, Vice Chairman and Executive Officer of GE and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NBC Universal, had a grandson who was autistic.

Going further back in time, consider a program on the link between vaccines and mental problems which was aired by NBC in 1994 and featured Katie Couric as a co-host.

If there are no problems associated with vaccines, then why did Congress pass the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which created a national Vaccine Injury Compensation Program?

Michael Chen of ABC 10 News in San Diego reports on one mother whose son suffered a very serious vaccine reaction and was diagnosed with autism, and later Tourette syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and mitochondrial dysfunction. She was awarded $55,000 in damages. Chen reported that since 1988, 15,684 injury and death claims related to vaccines have been submitted to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, and that among those, nearly 4,000 cases received compensation from a federal fund.

Nearly $2 billion dollars has been paid out to vaccine victims for their injuries.

But in response to New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie's support of parental choice in vaccines, CNN ran a story saying he had sidestepped "vaccine science."

The Washington Post reported in 2008 that candidate Barack Obama had said, "We've seen just a skyrocketing autism rate. Some people are suspicious that it's connected to the vaccines. This person included. The science right now is inconclusive, but we have to research it."

The phrase "This person included" was apparently a reference to someone in the audience.

Now Obama acts as if all the science is settled. It is total hypocrisy.

But the science is not settled. In regard to the measles outbreak, Barbara Loe Fisher of the National Vaccine Information Center points out that "there were 644 cases of measles reported in America in 2014, even though 95% of children entering kindergarten have gotten two doses of MMR vaccine, which is also true for 92% of school children ages 13 to 17 years." She also notes that "less than one percent of children under age three are completely unvaccinated and 92% of them have gotten one or more MMR shots. In some states, the MMR vaccination rate is approaching 100 percent."

"From January 1 to January 30, 2015, 102 people from 14 states were reported to have measles," the CDC reports.

Fisher notes that the "measles virus has not been eradicated from the U.S., just like measles has not been eradicated from any other country and emerging scientific evidence suggests it never will be – no matter how many doses of MMR vaccine are mandated for every man, woman and child in the world."

Could it be possible that the shots aren't working? What about the fact that millions of Americans took flu shots that don't work? Did you miss this ABC News story: "Flu vaccine may not be effective for this year's strains, CDC says."

Dr. Anne Schuchat, assistant surgeon general and director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, was quoted by CNN as saying, "this is not a problem with the measles vaccine not working. This is a problem of the measles vaccine not being used."

So why are vaccinated people getting measles? The CDC admits that 12 percent of those with measles associated with Disneyland were vaccinated. What's more, some of the measles cases may be vaccine reactions. The fact is that the CDC just doesn't know why or what is happening.

CNN, which is now trying to act "scientific" on the subject of vaccine safety, ran a January 15 column, "The climate is ruined. So can civilization even survive?" It was another effort to scare people over so-called global warming, or climate change.

Here, too, Republicans have been portrayed as "anti-science" for opposing scare mongering over the climate, based on junk science.

In this case, the editor's note said the author, David Ray Griffin, "is emeritus professor of philosophy of religion at Claremont School of Theology and Claremont Graduate University. His most recent book is Unprecedented: Can Civilization Survive the CO2 Crisis? The views expressed in this commentary are solely those of the author."

That sounds impressive.

Yet, Griffin's previous book was The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11. It argues that Flight 77, a Boeing 757 which was seen by dozens of people crashing into the Pentagon, was actually a missile or small aircraft.

He has no explanation for passenger Barbara Olson's call to her husband, Ted Olson, in the Justice Department, alerting him to the fact that the flight had been hijacked, other than to suggest that they were both part of a secret plan to conceal the truth and that it is not clear "what became of Barbara Olson."

Griffin is an advocate of global government that he calls "global democracy" as the solution to the world's problems.

According to the acknowledgements section of his new book, the "seed" for the book was a series of lectures he gave at the invitation of Zhihe Wang and Meijun Fan of the Communist Chinese Institute for Postmodern Development. Their specialty is "ecological Marxism."

Not surprisingly, the book Organic Marxism: An Alternative to Capitalism and Ecological Catastrophe receives Griffin's endorsement.

In a hastily added postscript to his own book, Griffin seems ecstatic that President Obama and Chinese leader Xi Jinping recently made an "executive agreement" about limiting carbon emissions. He says this "undercuts what had become the Republicans' main argument for doing nothing about climate change...."

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, is not impressed by the deal. He calls it "a non-binding charade" that benefits China.

Griffin calls the GOP "the party of denial" – a charge the media will increasingly use as the presidential campaign moves forward.

The Republicans ought to be getting used to this charge by now.

But using a 9/11 truther to attack Republicans? Don't the media have any decency?

Will Republicans stand up to the media attack? Or will they wilt in the face of dubious "science" promoted by reporters with no credibility?

Rand Paul: Vaccines can lead to ‘mental disorders’

Exclusive Washington Times Daily Briefing (Feb. 3, 2015)

Washington Times

By David Sherfinski and Jennifer Pomp - The Washington Times - Monday, February 2, 2015

When asked by radio host Laura Ingraham Monday about his views on vaccination, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky said that while he is not “anti-vaccine” at all, he does think they should be voluntary, later going on to say that vaccines may lead to “mental disorders.”

The question was prompted by a recent measles outbreak that has infected more than 100 people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 100 people have been diagnosed with measles, with the majority of cases stemming from an outbreak linked to a Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, California, that likely originated with an overseas traveler who was unvaccinated, the agency said. The CDC said also said most of the people who were infected were unvaccinated.

The outbreak has reignited the debate over the safety of vaccinations.

When asked about the remarks later on CNBC, Mr. Paul said, “Well, I guess being for freedom would be really unusual — I guess I don’t understand the point why that would be controversial.” He went on to express some concern over the safety of vaccines.

“I’ve heard of many tragic cases of walking, talking normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines,” he said on CNBC. “I’m not arguing vaccines are a bad idea — I think they’re a good thing. But I think the parent[s] should have some input — the state doesn’t own your children; parents own the children and it is an issue of freedom.”

The measles vaccine, known as MMR, is more than 99 percent effective at preventing the measles, says the CDC. The agency recommends that children get two doses of the vaccine; the first at 12 through 15 months of age and the second between the ages of 4 years and 6 years.

Vaccines and Autism: What You Need to Know

Tuesday, 10 Feb 2015 04:49 PM

By Sylvia Booth Hubbard

The increase in numbers of American children diagnosed with autism is frightening. Autism cases have skyrocketed between 20 and 30 fold since the early 1970s, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

In 2014, the CDC released a report stating that  one child in 68 had autism, a 30 percent increase from only two years earlier. For boys, the risk was even worse — one in 42.

The condition, which causes difficulty communicating and limited social skills, was so rare in past generations that the term autism wasn't even used in the modern sense until 1938. Autism wasn't classified as a specific illness until the late 1960s.

As the numbers of victims began to rise, desperate parents searched for help — and for answers. Doctors were as clueless as the parents about the cause. Many parents believed their children were normal until they began receiving regularly scheduled vaccinations. Speculation centered around the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine, since some parents saw a dramatic spiral into autism immediately following the MMR inoculation.

Holistic physician David Brownstein, M.D., has seen first-hand the agony faced by parents of autistic children. "For over 20 years, I have seen many parents who reported that their child was developing normally until they received a vaccine," he says. "Within hours to days of the vaccine, particularly the MMR vaccine, these parents claim that their children changed in their behavior and attitude.

"The story was always similar," he tells Newsmax Health. "One day the child was normal, the next day he or she was crying and irritable and began regressing on all fronts — neurologically, behaviorally, and emotionally.

"From this point on, the lives of the parents and affected children were changed forever," he says. "Nearly all of these children were eventually diagnosed as autistic."

Dr. Andrew Wakefield published studies in 1998 that questioned the safety of the MMR vaccine and linked it to autism and bowel disease in children. Dr. Wakefield says he found the measles virus in the lymph tissue of 12 autistic children who had never had measles but had received the measles vaccine. Wakefield, who was a world-renowned gastrointestinal surgeon, believed that the MMR vaccine could be causing the inflammation of the gastrointestinal system that affects most autistic children.

The MMR vaccine is produced using a cell line that originated from aborted fetal lung cells, notes Dr. Brownstein. "The concern is that the increase in autism may be due to the introduction of human DNA — from fetal cells — into the MMR and chicken pox vaccines," he says.

Research by scientist Dr. Helen Ratajczak also suggested vaccines could cause autism. After a review of scientific literature, she believed that the onslaught of multiple vaccines was throwing the immune system out of balance. In addition, she believed that the introduction of human DNA via vaccines was causing the body to treat the foreign DNA as invaders, starting an inflammatory process that becomes chronic. The factors combine to increase the risk of autism.

Still, Dr. Wakefield was accused of fraud in connection with his autism research and his medical license was revoked. He continues to be vilified for his research suggesting that vaccines could cause autism.

"For that 'crime,' he was prosecuted by the media and the medical profession," says Dr. Brownstein. Ironically, even though Dr. Wakefield is blamed for the anti-vaccine movement, he didn't advise patients to refuse vaccinations. Instead, he suggested that vaccines for the three diseases contained in the MMR should be given separately.

Still others blamed thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative found in some vaccines, for the dramatic increase in autism, but cases of the condition have continued to rise even after thimerosal was removed from the majority of vaccines.

In May of last year, a paper by prominent immunologist Dr. Bart Classen was published in Molecular and Genetic Medicine. Dr. Classen blamed the increase in autism, as well as increases in diabetes and obesity, to chronic inflammation caused by an overload of vaccines.

"We have been publishing for years that vaccines are causing an epidemic of inflammatory diseases including diabetes, obesity and autism," Dr. Classen wrote. "However the number of vaccines given to children has continued to rise to a point where we have reached a state of immune overload in roughly the majority of young U.S. children.

"The best data indicates that vaccine-induced chronic disease is now of a magnitude that dwarfs almost all prior poisoning of humans, including poisoning from agents like asbestos, low dose radiation, lead, and even cigarettes," Dr. Classen continued.

There are accusations that the CDC has deliberately suppressed evidence of a link between vaccines and autism. "The Centers for Disease Control altered a 2004 study, hiding data that supported Dr. Wakefield’s research," says Dr. Brownstein. "The report stated there was no link between vaccines and autism, but a CDC whistleblower and author of the paper came forward to announce that the paper was a fraud. He said the CDC hid data in the paper which showed a clear link between the early administration of the MMR vaccine and autism."

The whistleblower was CDC senior scientist William Thompson, who issued a statement through his attorney: "I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information in our 2004 article published in the journal Pediatrics. The omitted data suggested that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism."

Many scientists blame the increase in autism on environmental factors, such as exposure to chemicals and pollution. Autism hasn't been the only disease that's been skyrocketing among children. Type 1 diabetes, allergies, eczema, cancer, and gastrointestinal problems have also increased significantly.

So, do vaccines cause autism? The consensus of the conventional medicine community is that they do not, and many authorities seem unwilling to consider any evidence to the contrary. More answers may be coming soon. Whistleblower William Thompson has reportedly been given immunity by the Obama administration, and is planning to tell his story to Congress.

Media Bias and Vaccines

Say her name: vaccine victim Hannah Poling

By Cliff Kincaid

Brian Williams' "chopper whoppers" about his exploits as a correspondent flying into Iraq are making him look foolish. It's not clear whether he can survive in the anchor chair. But don't think the Williams case means that the media are now on guard for misrepresentations and false claims. The controversy over vaccines has been another media low point. We are being told they are completely safe with no side effects. That's a blatant lie.

Anybody who watches Williams' newscasts can see who pays the bills: pharmaceutical companies. Commercials for various pills, and even vaccines, are regular fare and dominate the several minutes of time that pay for the newscast itself. You would have to be a fool to think these companies don't try to exercise influence over what appears on the broadcasts.

Former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson's book Stonewalled: My Fight for Truth Against the Forces of Obstruction, Intimidation, and Harassment in Obama's Washington offers evidence of how powerful these companies are. She explains how pharmaceutical companies, their front groups, and public relations representatives work to manipulate news coverage and hide the truth from the American people about injuries caused by vaccines.

Attkisson, an Emmy Award winner who received the Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Award in 2012, left the network when it became clear that her investigative stories, especially of Obama administration misdeeds, were not welcome. One of the stories she had been covering on a regular basis for many years was the vaccine-autism link. She continues to do so on her own website.

This is an area where the truth affects many people, not just Brian Williams' career. The developmental disorder known as autism is estimated to affect two million people. It involves difficulties in social interaction and verbal and nonverbal communication. Hiring doctors and therapists to treat the disorder can cost a family $50,000 or more a year. However, there is no cure.

The number of cases have risen from an estimated one in 5,000 in 1975 to one in 64 today, a more than 600 percent increase. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) claims it can't identify the cause, but has consistently claimed that the disorder is not linked to the growing number of vaccines required for children.

The pro-vaccination side has increasingly resorted to vicious name calling and smears against those favoring informed consent and parental choice on vaccines. The Washington Post published a piece by Arthur L. Caplan, an alleged expert on medical ethics, comparing the opponents of vaccines to Holocaust deniers. He said that doctors favoring choice on vaccines should have their licenses lifted.

There is one name these proponents of mandatory vaccines in the media desperately want to avoid: vaccine victim Hannah Poling. You can search in vain for her name in the recent coverage of alleged vaccine safety.

Attkisson notes in her book that in 2008, the federal government agreed to pay damages to the family of Hannah Poling, "a child who developed autism after multiple vaccinations." Attkisson explained that the "landmark case" amounted to $1.5 million for the girl the first year and $500,000 each year after. In total, the compensation could amount to $20 million over the child's lifetime.

The Poling case was just one of thousands of cases filed in the National Vaccine Injury Program. But it was selected as a "test case" to evaluate the arguments underlying most of the other vaccine-autism claims.

Attkisson writes that the case was "ordered sealed, protecting the pharmaceutical vaccine industry and keeping the crucial information hidden from other families who have autistic children and also believe vaccines to be the culprit." But word leaked out.

At the time, the head of the federal Centers for Disease Control, which assures the public of vaccine safety, was Dr. Julie Gerberding. After insisting the settlement of the Poling case was not an admission of a direct vaccine-autism link, she left the CDC to become president of vaccines for Merck. Last December, she was promoted to executive vice president for strategic communications, global public policy, and population health at Merck.

Attkisson reported on the Poling case for CBS News on March 6, 2008. She said, "While the Poling case is the first of its kind to become public, a CBS News investigation uncovered at least nine other cases as far back as 1990, where records show the court ordered the government to compensate families whose children developed autism or autistic-like symptoms in children, including toddlers, who had been called 'very smart' and 'impressed' doctors with their 'intelligence and curiosity'...until their vaccinations. They were children just like Hannah Poling."

In a September 10, 2010, story on the vaccine-injury court award, Attkisson reported, "Hannah was described as normal, happy and precocious in her first 18 months. Then, in July 2000, she was vaccinated against nine diseases in one doctor's visit: measles, mumps, rubella, polio, varicella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, and Haemophilus influenzae. Afterward, her health declined rapidly. She developed high fevers, stopped eating, didn't respond when spoken to, began showing signs of autism, and began having screaming fits."

Not surprisingly, Attkisson reports in her book, the vaccine makers didn't appreciate her stories. She said that after word leaked out about the government's settlement in the Poling case, "vaccine makers and their government partners" worked hard "to controversialize and tamp down all news coverage of the facts." She notes that their strategy included "a full-forced attack on me and my ongoing reporting." She learned in June 2008, after the fact, that "PR officials and a top attorney for vaccine maker Wyeth have managed to get a private meeting to spin two Evening News senior producers in New York about my reports."

Attkisson names one of the pharmaceutical PR officials as former ABC and CNN reporter Eileen O'Connor, who now works at the State Department under President Obama.

Attkisson comments on the pressure campaign: "It's wrong on so many levels, in my opinion. Improper for the meeting to be conducted without my participation or knowledge. Unethical to offer the powerful corporate interests – who are also advertisers – special access, while those on the other side aren't given an audience to be heard. Inappropriate because the producers haven't been in the chain of command on any of my vaccine-related stories."

She notes in the book that some of the "hardest pushback" she ever received for a story came after CBS Evening News Executive Producer Jim Murphy assigned her to look into the reported cover-up of adverse effects of various prescription drugs and military vaccinations. She writes, "That series of reports leads to me to investigate related stories about childhood vaccinations and their links to harmful side effects, including brain damage and autism. At the time, the Bush administration is marching in lockstep with the pharmaceutical industry in denying problems with the prescription drugs at issue as well as both military and childhood vaccines."

She writes, "It's one thing for them to want their side of the story told: that's understandable. But it's quite another for them to want the stories censored entirely. They're trying to keep them from airing altogether."

She reports that just minutes before one of her first stories about childhood vaccinations and autism was to air, a spokesman for a nonprofit group called Every Child by Two called CBS in New York. "The spokesman evokes the name of former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who cofounded the group," Attkisson says. "The call reaches Murphy, who then calls me on the hotline that rings directly into the Washington bureau newsroom. I'm preparing for my live shot. 'Why is some group called Every Child by Two, supposedly fronted by Rosalynn Carter, calling me about your story?'" Murphy asks.

Attkisson responded, "I have no idea," and said she had never heard of the group. She then learned that it "promotes children getting fully vaccinated by age two and rejects the idea of investigating harmful vaccine side effects that could injure the very youngsters they purported to protect."

Attkisson recounted how she also later learned that Every Child by Two is funded by the major vaccine manufacturer, Wyeth, and a Wyeth spokesman was listed as the group's treasurer. She writes that she wondered "how they knew we planned to air a story on the news that night." Nevertheless, CBS went ahead with the story.

In a 2011 story, "Vaccines and Autism: a new scientific review," Attkisson cited an article in the Journal of Immunotoxicology entitled "Theoretical aspects of autism: Causes – A review." It was a review of studies finding cases of autism following vaccination.

You don't have to be a scientist to notice this pattern. I have heard from several parents who have seen it for themselves. One told me, "Our son was affected by vaccines and there are too many out there with the same story. I'm sick of hearing and reading news reports saying there is no correlation between autism and vaccines."

On her website, Attkisson is described as an investigative journalist "who tries to give you information others don't want you to have." That certainly is the case with vaccine safety. She's one of the few journalists with national stature willing to tackle this issue.

As we have recently commented, the media across the political spectrum seem unwilling to cover vaccine-related injury cases. Many reporters and commentators are mindlessly spouting claims about "vaccine safety" and dismissing a vaccine-autism link without even mentioning cases like that of Hannah Poling.

Attkisson has vigorously defended her stories. Indeed, when challenged by CNN reporter Brian Stelter about her stories linking vaccines to autism, she replied, "...those were some of the most important stories I've done and I would like to continue along those lines, at some point. It continues to be a very important debate."

Now a senior independent contributor to the Heritage Foundation's The Daily Signal, Attkisson continues to cover the vaccine problem on her own website and is now quoting CDC's immunization safety director as saying it's a "possibility" that vaccines rarely trigger autism but "it's hard to predict who those children might be."

Attkisson comments, "It is a significant admission from a leading health official at an agency that has worked for nearly 15 years to dispel the public of any notion of a tie between vaccines and autism. Vaccines are among the most heralded medical inventions of our time. Billions of people have been vaccinated worldwide, countless lives have been saved and debilitating injuries prevented. The possibility that vaccines may also partly be responsible for autism, in individual cases, is not something public health officials are typically eager to address."

The major media are not eager to address it, either. But the people are demanding that the truth be told. They do not believe the media's declarations of vaccine safety and effectiveness.

Whatever the fate of Brian Williams, the credibility of the media will continue to nosedive.

Gardasil linked to deaths and disabilities after young girls vaccinated: Toronto Star investigation

Steve Weatherbe

TORONTO, February 13, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- Since its introduction in 2007 in the U.S. and Canada, the Gardasil vaccine against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer and genital warts, has been injected in more than 50 million people in more than 130 countries, mostly young women.

But concern over serious side effects and deaths following inoculations has grown enough for the Toronto Star to mount a lengthy investigation. It found more than 50 Canadian girls who developed serious medical conditions after their injections with Merck’s Gardasil (15 hospitalized) and in the U.S, more than 100 deaths and tens of thousands of reports of adverse effects.

While the Canadian government spent $300 million to promote anti-HPV inoculation and provincial governments paid for Grade 8 girls to get it, Catholic school systems and Catholic bishops opposed it, led by Calgary’s Fred Henry. They cited not only the side effects but also their concern that giving a vaccine against a sexually transmitted disease to Grade 8 girls would send a message of tacit approval of premature sexual behavior.

The Star found plenty of parents who believe the vaccine caused their daughters’ illnesses and, on the contrary, a consensus of public health officials and medical professionals who dismiss all such claims. For example, they quote Dr. Jennifer Blake, president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, saying, “I’m extremely comfortable that this is a safe vaccine.”

That coincidence translated into pressure from school authorities on parents and their daughters, who claim the risks of side-effects were ignored or discounted.  One Ontario girl, Kaitlyn Armstrong, said her guidance counselor “told us it was going to protect us from cervical cancer, it’s a really good idea to get it. She was pushing it. She didn’t talk about any complications or any of that stuff.” The Star chronicles her gradual loss of strength and abandonment of all physical activities.

Merck devotes several pages of its technical report on Gardasil to its side effects, the Star reported, but other parents and young women claim they never heard about them (Merck says its own research found only five serious cases out of 11,000 vaccinations during testing.). Armstrong remembers telling the nurse who injected her she had an allergy to metal but, even though aluminum salts are an ingredient of Gardasil, she was given the vaccine.

Debbi Vinnedge, founder of Children of God for Life, a watchdog organization focused on vaccines and research using human fetal tissue, told LifeSiteNews, “Gardasil does not contain aborted fetal tissue but its side effects, its side effects are very, very serious.” But even though it lies outside its area of concern, COG for Life received so many questions and complaints from parents, the organization produced a pamphlet listing concerns and research on side effects.

Among a “partial list” of 16 adverse effects the pamphlet lists are miscarriage, stillbirth, ovarian cysts, genital warts, multiple sclerosis, lupus, paralysis, and stroke. One overarching explanation is that, for many, Gardasil may weaken the immune system. How many? The pamphlet claims more than 28,000 reports of such negative effects were made to the U.S. government’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System by 2012, as had 128 deaths—all within the population of girls aged 9 – 24.

Vinnedge said one problem with Gardasil is that it was tested for five years but “the HPV virus can lie dormant for 20 years.” She questions whether its effectiveness against the virus is properly proven over the long term. A second problem: “It gives people a false sense of security,” encouraging teenage girls to take sexual risks, when “it only works against four out of 100 different forms of HPV.”

Sanevax is another organization devoted to reporting on safe and unsafe vaccines. Its website is crammed with ominous research into Gardasil and first-hand horror stories and recent news. Among the latter: a report from Columbia of hundreds of school girls hospitalized after vaccination with Gardasil, and from the U.S. a surge in fatality reports related to recent vaccinations with Gardasil and another problematic HPV vaccine, Cervarix.

Gardasil’s defenders note that new vaccines often are followed by claims of adverse impacts, but these are not the same as proof. In a Forbes Magazine article in 2012, health reporter Matthew Herper took on those 28,000 reports to VAERS. “It’s true that there have been 24,000 reports of adverse events with Gardasil. (All of these numbers come from the VAERS database…) There have also been 60,000 reports of death with the mumps, measles, and rubella vaccine, and 26,000 following vaccination with Pfizer’s Prevnar, for pneumococcus bacteria.”

Teenagers die, Herper explains, and some die after getting their HPV shots. But the people tasked with analyzing VAERS data ruled out almost all of the adverse reports alleged against Gardasil after investigating the first 12,000.  They advised doctors and nurses to be on the lookout for girls fainting after their shots.

But Norma Erickson, the president of Sanevax, questions that analysis. “I know some survivors of those first 12,000 reports and none of them has ever spoken to any investigators.” Erickson told LifeSiteNews, “we know those reports are anecdotal but that is where scientific investigations start.” She cited the case of Thalidomide, an anti-nausea drug that came under investigation in the late 1950s only after anecdotal reports linking it to newborn babies with deformities.

Erickson suggested two Gardasil ingredients may be causing the problems: the aluminium, which is a neurotoxin, and L-hystidine, an amino acid that interferes with the brain’s defences against metal toxins. “Whichever part of the brain is affected by the toxin,” said Erickson, “that may lead to a different problem.” Erickson admitted that nobody knows why Gardasil would cause the wide range of adverse effects. “That’s why we are asking for a full investigation.”

A big Hello to you GFTess. Good to hear from you even though you didn't address the main topic---vaccinations! What do you think? Do the ends justify the means? Is it right or wrong that governments and UN agencies sterilize millions of women without their permission?

Here's a follow-up to the Kenyan vaccines...seems from this report that the Kenyan bishops knew what they were saying.

Report: 30% of Kenyan vaccine samples contained sterility-inducing antigen

Catholic World News - February 20, 2015

A report issued by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops has found that 30% of tested tetanus vaccine samples included a sterility-inducing antigen.

The vaccine, funded by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, was administered to Kenyan women of childbearing age in 2014.

“It is both unethical and immoral for WHO and UNICEF to sponsor and fund an inhuman campaign like this in our country,” the bishops’ conference said in a statement describing the vaccination as a “monumental human rights abuse” and “attack on the survival of a people.”

Is the Polio Vaccine Causing Cancer?

February 18, 2015

Dr. Russell Blaylock, 69, is a retired American neurosurgeon.

Ken Anton summarizes this informative video
by Blaylock which argues that vaccines cause
disease. Is the medical cartel seeding
the sickness upon which its profits depend?

"For example: the Live Polio Vaccine given to 90 million Americans in the 50's & 60's, accidentally included the SV40 carcinogenic virus from monkey kidneys. After its discovery the government tried to keep it secret. Recent studies show the SV40 is causing malignant tumors in thousands of human lungs, brains and lymph systems."

MD says Polio Vaccine was never Needed

by Ken Anton
"Be Prepared to Make Your Own Health Decisions"
(abridged by henrymakow.com)

As an experienced Neurosurgeon, Dr. Russell Blaylock explains how Immuno-Excitotoxicity can cause autism & associated diseases. Excessive vaccines given to babies up to 24-months-old can lead to inflammation of the brain w/symptoms such as rashes, screaming, memory loss, angry outbursts, depression, seizures, ADHD and other neurological disorders.

There has been a radical increase in Autism over the past 30 years:

1980's- 1 in 10,000 cases
2014-  1 in 50 cases

During the same period, vaccinations increased from 10 (for children up to 6 years) to now 40 vaccinations for babies up to 24 months.

This excessive rate of vaccination can cause over-stimulation of the brain's immune system, the Microglia which triggers release of excitotoxins that attack the neural pathways in the baby's undeveloped brain. This can lead to autism or related disorders.

Pediatricians today arrogantly push vaccines on parents with newborns without discussion of serious adverse effects. Recent scientific evidence shows 1% of vaccinated children have some form of neurological damage, signifying a tragedy for the whole family.

Warning: The Flu vaccine given in pregnancy can affect the baby's brain and lead to autism or schizophrenia years later. Also soon after birth, babies are given the Hepatitis B shot, totally unnecessary yet extremely toxic which can cause a critical immune response, then possibly autism or even SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

The toxins in vaccines include mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, bacteria, MSG and viral contaminants undetected by vaccine suppliers. Live virus vaccines like the MMR are especially risky. By suppressing the immune system, babies are vulnerable to other diseases. Even though attenuated, such live viruses can persist for years and later cause asthma, diabetes or brain disorders.

Vaccines often cause the disease they are designed to prevent. After the 1970's, every new case of polio was caused by the Live Polio Vaccine itself.

Many studies on thimerosal (ethyl mercury) have shown its toxicity to the brain. Even very small doses can cause chronic inflammation, yet doses given to babies are 80 times greater than limits set for adults. For 70 years, not one scientific safety study of thimerosal has been undertaken, yet they claim by phony epidemiological studies it is safe to use in vaccines.

Dr Blaylock says he caught diseases like mumps, measles, rubella, chicken pox and the flu when he was young, with no serious side effects and yet benefited from lifetime immunity. His community held measles parties where neighbors brought their kids to be exposed to measles and get it over with. Contrast that to the ruckus over a recent measles 'epidemic' at Disneyland where some 87 children caught measles. Since it's a mild disease for children, this is an example of media hype and scare tactics to boost vaccination and industry profits. Yet the irony is that it's the vaccinated kids with limited immunity who commonly infect others.

Each vaccine has its own risk factors and Dr Blaylock goes into some detail explaining these. For example, the HepB and combo vaccines like MMR and DTP cause the most adverse reactions in babies.

The Flu vaccine contains thimerosal, toxic to the brain. Yet for babies under 24 months, the vaccine is totally ineffective. The makers anticipate each year which flu strain (out of over 300) will be the most likely one and even then it is seldom effective. 70% of doctors & nurses refuse to take it. Although the CDC exaggerates the number of flu related deaths each year, a 35 year study shows no reduction in the overall death rate by taking the flu vaccine. So why take the risk especially for babies?

To understand vaccine risks better, Dr Blaylock recommends Neil Millers's "Vaccine Safety Manual". Also see the NVIC
Disease & Vaccines database

According to a recent AP press release "A measles outbreak that originated at Disneyland has grown to 87 cases". Apparently it is spreading slowly around the country and the media is blowing it up as if a major epidemic is at hand.  This is sheer nonsense, especially as the older generation is well aware that measles is a mild childhood disease. Yet the media scare campaign helps promote mandatory vaccinations, thus increasing Big Pharma profits.

A related article from VaccineImpact.com reports "Zero US Measles Deaths in 10 Years, but Over 100 Measles Vaccine Deaths". Clearly, it is the vaccinated who are taking the greater risk.

Measles is now a hot topic across the nation, promoted by the media and Medical Cartel, calling for mandatory vaccinations while pitting pro-vaccers against anti-vaccers. This is typical 'divide and conquer' strategy carried out by the Ruling Elite in all matters from politics to wars to medicine, in which they are deeply involved.

CONCLUSION

"It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine." --Marcia Angell, MD ("Drug Companies and Doctors: A story of Corruption." NY Review of Books, Jan. 15, 2009.)

Press trusts government too much on vaccines

Exclusive: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. rips columnist for relying on 'scandalous' CDC

Published: 5 days ago

image: http://www.wnd.com/files/2015/07/rfkennedy_avatar.jpg

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. serves as Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, Chief Prosecuting Attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper and President of Waterkeeper Alliance. He is also a Clinical Professor and Supervising Attorney at Pace University School of Law’s Environmental Litigation Clinic and is co-host of "Ring of Fire" on Air America Radio.

Frank Bruni’s angry tirade against me in his Sunday New York Times column took me by surprise. Last February, we’d had a brief, friendly and mutually respectful telephone conversation. He had written an article about vaccine safety at the end of January, and I asked if he would allow me to show him some of the recent scientific studies linking thimerosal to a range of brain injuries. I also wanted to show him the transcripts of statements by CDC whistleblower Dr. William Thompson discussing the troubling disarray and deception within CDC’s vaccine program.

Bruni told me he would be delighted to look at the materials. He said he was under deadline at the moment, but he cordially invited me to call back to schedule lunch. Both of us are busy, so I was not surprised that he did not return my follow-up call the next week. Bruni now reveals that he was deliberately dodging my phone call because he was frightened that I would use the lunch meeting to “scaremonger” him.

It’s disappointing that a columnist for America’s leading publication can be “scaremongered” by facts. The sad outcome is that instead of the enlightened, civil debate our country deserves, Bruni delivers in this past Sunday’s column the same tired species of invective and ad hominem attack that have long characterized the vaccine controversy.

In the two instances that he ventures from insult into substance, Bruni gets it wrong. He erroneously suggests that mercury has been removed from all pediatric vaccines. In fact there are massive doses of mercury in some meningitis vaccines – now mandated for all schoolchildren in New York – and in vaccines given to pregnant women, infants and annually to public school kids. To the ingredients of those vaccines, pharmaceutical companies have recently added aluminum adjuvants that act synergistically to dramatically amplify the neurotoxicity of the remaining mercury. Finally, pharmaceutical companies merely reduced mercury levels in pediatric vaccines given to American children. We continue to send the range of pediatric vaccines fully loaded with mercury to children in developing nations in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, a practice that will haunt our country in many dreadful ways.

In defending thimerosal safety, Bruni alludes to the debunked industry canard that the ethylmercury in vaccines is less persistent in the body and therefore less toxic than the heavily regulated methylmercury in fish. However, the best and most recent science shows that ethylmercury is twice as persistent in the brain (Burbacher et al. 2004) and 50 times as toxic as methylmercury in fish (Guzzi et al. 2010).

Bruni acknowledges that he relies on CDC’s version of what the science says rather than reading science himself. There is a peril in unctuous faith in government orthodoxies. Four scathing federal studies by Congress, the U.S. Senate, the HHS inspector general and the HHS Office of Research Integrity paint CDC’s vaccine division a cesspool of corruption due to scandalous conflicts with the $30 billion vaccine industry. In August, CDC’s senior vaccine scientist, Dr. William Thompson, invoked federal whistleblower protection, confessing that CDC supervisors systematically require vaccine division scientists to bury data linking vaccines to autism and other neurologic harms.

In our book, a review of the published science, Dr. Martha Herbert, Dr. Mark Hyman and I identified hundreds of peer reviewed studies by leading government and university scientists showing that thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative, is a devastating neurologic toxin linked to neurological disorders now epidemic in American children, including ADD, ADHD, low IQ, speech development delays and tics. I have posted a digest of these studies on my website. We found no published study proving thimerosal safe.

Bruni is left making the strange and anemic argument that if pharmaceutical companies were truly driven by greed, as purportedly cynical thimerosal opponents believe, Pharma’s best business strategy would be to stop manufacturing vaccines, let contagions run rampant, and then profiteer on medicine sales. I’m not jumping into that shark tank with Bruni, but I will dip in one toe by pointing out that Pharma is making plenty of dough selling Adderall, Prozac and dozens of other best-selling drugs to treat the neurological injuries that now affect one in six American children. All these illnesses are consistent with symptoms documented in mass mercury poisonings around the globe.

Frank Bruni and other American journalists need to start reading the science themselves and stop allowing compromised government bureaucrats tell them what the science supposedly says.

The media’s undue reverence for CDC has emboldened bad agency behavior that jeopardizes vaccine safety. The best way to promote vaccine participation and compliance is through intense media scrutiny that will restore integrity and credibility at CDC

CDC Should Admit Coverup of Vaccine-Autism Link: Top Doctor

By Sylvia Booth Hubbard   |  Sunday, 26 Jul 2015 11:06 PM

Last summer, Dr. William Thompson, a senior epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control, admitted that he had helped the CDC hide data from a study which linked the MMR vaccine to autism. Holistic doctor David Brownstein tells Newsmax Health the CDC is still not owning up to Dr. Thompson's charges that they found data that links the vaccine to a spike in autism. "The CDC is still not coming clean," Dr. Brownstein says. "They want to keep it quiet, but it's time the cover-up ended."

Some experts believe that the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine (MMR) caused an increase in autism, but the idea has been roundly discredited by government officials.

Officially, the 2004 CDC study Dr. Thompson helped conduct found no link between the MMR vaccine and autism. In addition, the study, which was published in the journal Pediatrics, stated that no particular racial group was more at risk than others.

But Dr. Thompson said the actual data painted quite a different picture. He confessed that he and other CDC scientists intentionally omitted African-American children from the study, and changed data in order to show no link between vaccines and autism.

In fact, the original data found that giving a child the vaccine before the age of 36 months increased the risk of autism by 69 percent, and giving it to an African-American child increased the risk of autism by 240 percent!

Since Dr. Thompson's admission, nothing has been done, says Dr. Brownstein, author of the newsletter Natural Way to Health. "It's been almost a year and nothing has happened. Zip. Zero. No testimony. No hearing. No nothing."

Earlier this year, the Obama administration gave Thompson whistleblower status, granting him immunity. Hearings have been promised, but none have taken place. Dr. Brownstein urges Congressman Jason Chaffetz to move forward with plans to hold hearings on the CDC cover-up, and to issue a subpoena to Dr. Thompson. "The CDC will not let him speak out without a subpoena," he says.

As for Thompson, although he believes in the importance of vaccines, he regrets going along with omitting crucial information that showed a link between the vaccine and autism. "I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information in our 2004 article published in the journal Pediatrics," he said in a statement. "The omitted data suggested that African-American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism. Decisions were made regarding which findings to report after the data were collected, and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed."

"It's time to clean up the CDC cesspool," says Dr. Brownstein. "Dr. Thompson must speak, under oath. We all need to email the Congressional Oversight and Reform Office today and request that Dr. Thompson be issued a subpoena.

"If the CDC intentionally hid the data that the MMR vaccine was associated with autism, then CDC heads need to roll," says Dr. Brownstein. "This needs to end ... now!"
