Really, 2016, I find that I cannot get interested in something that none of use are going to be around to see.  Lets not forget Dec 21, 2012. 

I can not believe the worth some of us put into predictions, talk about scare tactics.  

Just trying to remember some of what I learned in Civics class, explain to me the powers of the Office of the President again.

Oh ya, the Constitution provides for a definite division of powers..often called "checks and balances" and distribution of federal powers among 3 distinct branches of national government. 

My old history book tells me that:

The three branches are the Legislative branch, Congress which makes the laws; the Executive branch, the President who carries out the laws, and the Judicial branch, the Supreme Court, which interprets the laws.

 The President is the Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy and of the State Militias when called into national action, but only Congress can declare war. The President can order the US armed forces to to take action in foreign countries when he thinks it's neceassary. He can also direct military campaigns and may call out federal troops or state militias to enforce federal laws or to protect the US Mail and interstate commerce. 

The President's duty and responsibility is to see the laws are faithfully carried out, and to preserve, protect and defend the U.S. COnstitution. 

The President has the power to grant repreives or pardons for offenses against the US except in cases of impeachment. 

The President can negotiate treaties with foreign powers although these treaties must be ratified by the Senate. 

The President can also make 'executive agreements" with foreign powers which do not have to be confirmed by the Senate. 

The President has the power to appoint all federal officials (except those under civil service) with advice and consent of the Senate. 

The President has the power to veto any bill passed by Congress within 10 days after it is presented to him for signing.

Just wondering....What do we discuss in the case when the movie and the two books in which it is based upon, IS all about politics, in this case President Obamas?

In the link I provided, D'Souza said, "...we want audiences to question what implications are, and what the world would look like in 2016 if he is re-elected."

It is a movie, but a super ultra conservative propaganda one.  And the one rule of this sub-forum is no politics.  I think it would be hard to talk about this movie without having a political discussion.  Is there a plot (story plot, not political subversive plan, I know there is one of those) to discuss?  Is there acting?  Is there special effects?  It seems, in my great wisdom (and no authority to actually make a decision) that this would be better posted somewhere else.  

"2016" is a documentary that D'Souza describes as "intellectually and factually very sound"....that..."so far, no one has alleged the contrary."

'Obama's America 2016' Love him, Hate him You don't know him

It's true, we don't know Obama. We should, but we don't. 

Why don't we know of his past? I mean really know.

The media and even Harry Reid are clamoring for 12 years of Romney's tax records, yet it is so lop-sided....they were/are silent on the disclosure of Obama's records...and becasue of their silence...we don't know him. Not his past in other countries, and not his past in the USA.

During the 2008 campaign, why did the mainstream media avoid reporting Obama's relationships with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Chicago domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, and Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis?  

How come they and his supporters don't want to know?

His records are sealed and according to some, Obama has paid millions of dollars to keep them sealed. 

Columbia and Harvard College records sealed. 

His thesis papers sealed. 

His original birth certificate, selective service, and medical records,  all sealed.

And Obama promised his administration would be one of transparency.

I'm thinking the movie is going to go a long way in helping us see who Obama really is.
